The semester has begun, the classes have started, and most lecturers have finally given out the lists with the required course readings. To be able to stay up to date with the readings, it’s about time to purchase the textbooks. As this can be quite expensive, it is good to know where to look for cheap alternatives!
Check your Campus Bookshop
Most of the ACU campuses have a bookshop on site:
- Brisbane: There is a Co-op Bookshop in Building E on Level A (right next to Catherine’s Cafe)
- Ballarat: The campus’s small bookshop is located in the Student Centre
- North Sydney: You’ll find a Co-op Bookshop in the Carrol Building
- Strathfield: Next to the canteen at the ground floor of E-Level you’ll see Strathfield’s Co-op Bookshop
- Melbourne: On Level 1 you will find Melbourne’s Campus Bookstore
Check campus notice boards
Checking the notice boards is always a good thing to do as many notices about used books sale are posted by other students who have used the books and don’t need them anymore. They are usually pretty cheap. Make sure you locate the notice boards at your local campus. Alternatively you can also go to other universities and check their notice boards too!
Browse the Web for Bargains
Buying new books can sometimes be very costly. Therefore it is always a good idea to browse the web for bargains or second hand books. Here are some suggestions about where to look:
- www.textbookexchange.com.au – here you can buy second hand books, or sell your old ones
- www.amazon.com – check Amazon’s marketplace if you can find your books for a better price there
