library and books

ACU students and staff can borrow from all campus libraries – not just your local campus library (some conditions apply).

When you do a search in the library catalogue it’s best to search the whole catalogue– and not just your local library.

Request a book or book chapter

  1. Go to the catalogue.
  2. Find the book you require.
  3. Where possible look for a copy that is not on loan. If all copies are on loan then the first available will be sent or used.
  4. Click on the name of the campus that holds the book under Location.
  5. Click on Request.
  6. If not already signed in, you will be prompted to identify yourself with an ID number and PIN. (Your ID number is AC followed by your student number, or the barcode from your ID card.  Your PIN is ddmm of your birthdate for students; staff please contact the Library if you are unsure of your PIN).
  7. Accept the ‘Not wanted after’ date that keeps the request active for two months, or change the date as required.
  8. Fill in the fields as accurately as possible.
  9. Click on the Go button.
  10. An email to your ACU email address will notify you when the book is ready to be collected. The book will be sent to your home address if you are an off-campus student.
  11. Book chapters will emailed to your ACU email address.

Request a copy of a journal article

To request a copy of a journal article you will need the journal title, the volume and issue number, and the date:

  1. Go to the catalogue.
  2. Find the journal your article is in.
  3. Click on the name of the campus that holds the journal under Location.
  4. Click on Request a copy.
  5. If not already signed in, you will be prompted to identify yourself with an ID number and PIN. (Your ID number is AC followed by your student number, or the barcode from your ID card.  Your PIN is ddmm of your birthdate for students; staff please contact the Library if you are unsure of your PIN).
  6. Re-select the library you know holds the article from the drop down menu.
  7. Fill in the fields as accurately as possible.
