From the Vice Chancellor Greg Craven, this message…
Dear Staff and Students,
This Wednesday, 25 April 2012, Australians and New Zealanders around the world will pause to remember the men and women of the Australia and New Zealand Army Corps—the ANZACs—who stepped into our history when they went ashore at Gallipoli on 25 April 1915. Over the years, Anzac Day has become a time to honour all of the men and women who have served our nations; and in doing so, some have made the supreme sacrifice.
As a University community we will pause to remember those who have served our country, and also offer prayers of hope for peace and justice in our community and our world. We hope that no individual exalts war, and that everyone in their heart recognises goodness and devotion and the promotion of good values. This is what we recognise and celebrate on Anzac Day.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
