book week 2013

Book Week is  Saturday 17 – Friday 23 August,

and the theme for Book Week for 2013 is ‘read across the universe’

What does that mean for you?

We asked a few people….(and we’ll add to this over the week)

Erica in Ballarat says stories and reading let my imagination wander through the universe while I plod along in the comfort of my own little earthly world.

Rosemary in Melbourne says read across the universe means reading strategically for university study

Kathryn in Melbourne says read something out of this world and finally know who Kit Fisto, Aayla Secura and Aaura Sing are…

Kate in Canberra says perhaps going out of my usual reading comfort zone and trying new genres, like science fiction?

Sarah in Brisbane says it’s grabbing a Dr Who book and escaping into the TARDIS on an adventure through time…

Francesca in Canberra suggests reading something from a non Western culture.

Jenny in Melbourne says …encouraging & promoting literacy around the world, starting with disadvantaged people in our own country.

Rachael in Canberra says I love reading across my own universe – politics, chicklit and blogs!  But I also love my daughter’s universe – picture books and discovering chapter books together.  I also love when my friends give me books to try – so I get to see a bit of their universe too!

Let us know what ‘read across the universe’ means to you?
