Bring your unwanted mobile phones into the Library

and we’ll send them on and together we can help gorilla habitat!

Did you know?

  • Coltan is a mineral used in mobile phones
  • illegal coltan mining in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) is destroying gorilla habitat
  • illegal miners slaughter gorillas for food in the jungle
  • money raised from donated phones helps support rangers in the Democratic Republic of Congo
  • phone refurbishment helps lessen the demand for coltan mining in gorilla habitat
Recycling your phone supports The Jane Goodall Institute.

What can you do?

Bring your old mobile phones, batteries & accessories to the collection box in the Library.

There is a collection box now at Melbourne & Brisbane libraries, and we hope to have more campus libraries involved soon (we’ll let you know).
