Tania Briggs is a ACU student but also works part time as a shelver at Brisbane library. We wanted to know more…

What sort of work do you do in the library?

Tania: The majority of the work that I do in the library involves shelving returns and generally tidying up. I sometimes also help with the mail and with finding books to be put on hold.

What are you studying/interests?

Tania: I am studying a Bachelor in Early Childhood and Primary Education. My interests include reading (of course!), discovering new places that make great coffee and spending time with my friends and family.

What is your top tip for using the library?

Tania: My top tip for using the library is: Always ask a librarian for help if you are having trouble finding a particular book, even if you have already looked on the shelf where it is meant to be. It is possible that the book you have been looking for is in the library – it just might not have been re-shelved yet or is on display somewhere. The librarians are really friendly and will be happy to help you.

Is there anything else that you have have noticed or learned, or a surprising aspect – since you started working in the library?

Tania: Until I started working in the library I did not realise how many educational resources are available to borrow, and that education students can extend the length of their loans during their practical placements.

Thanks Tania 🙂
