“Chega” is a Portuguese word, meaning “No More.”

Chega! is also the title of the Report of the Commission for Reception, Truth and Reconciliation in Timor-Leste (CAVR).

The Report’s five volume set is now on display in our Melbourne Campus Library, after being presented to Dr. John Ballard, Associate Vice-Chancellor of the Melbourne Campus (on 6 October, 2015).

The Report itself details the creation of CAVR, its activities, and the human impact of the East Timor conflict from 1974 to 1999.  Although it is an exploration of human rights violations during a troubled time in Timor-Leste’s history, the report also offers a message of hope, with suggestions for reform and practical steps to prevent further tragedy.

The display is located near the Service Desk on the ground floor of the Melbourne library.  For further information about the report itself, you can visit the CAVR Chega! Report webpage.
