EndNote X8 is now available to ACU staff and students.

To get your copy of EndNote you can complete one of two online forms:

  1. Download the installation files directly to your computer, or
  2. Request a USB drive to be mailed to you.

Before installing EndNote X8:

  1. Save a compressed version of your EndNote library.
    1. Go to File > Compressed Library (.enlx)
    2. Make sure to select “With File Attachments” and “All References in Library”.
  2. Keep a separate copy of your Output Styles, Import Filters, and Connection Files.
    1. By default, these are stored in an EndNote folder, as follows:

– Windows 7/8/10: My Documents\EndNote\

– Windows Vista: Documents\EndNote\

– Mac OS: Documents\EndNote

  1. Copy (but don’t delete!) this entire folder to another location on your computer – perhaps just create another folder called “EndNote Backup” and copy here.

When you’re ready to install:

  1. Check the system requirements to determine whether your computer is compatible
  2. Uninstall any old versions of EndNote from your computer
  3. Open the installation files (.exe for Windows / .dmg for Mac – as downloaded or requested)
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Update your Find Full Text preferences:

During our transition to a new Library Search (15 – 22 November), EndNote’s Find Full Text function may produce limited results.

After 22 November, please update your preferences for Find Full Text, by replacing the OpenURL path with: http://acu-edu-primo.hosted.exlibrisgroup.com/openurl/61ACU/61ACU_SP

Help:

  • Refer to our EndNote guide – this will be progressively updated over upcoming weeks as official Endnote X8 resources become available.
  • Contact library staff by email, online chat (during semester), or at your local campus.
