It is with great excitement that I invite you to join with us on a pilgrimage of a lifetime, as ACU joins with the youth of the world and Pope Francis in Krakow, Poland in 2016 for World Youth Day.
World Youth Day (WYD) has become the most recognised faith experience that the Catholic Church offers youth and young adults on a global level. ACU’s pilgrimage to Krakow will include travel through the Mediterranean countries of Greece and Turkey (including Gallipoli and ANZAC Cove) and then on to Poland for our World Youth Day experience. The pilgrimage will conclude with a short retreat in Austria before the group makes its return home to Australia.
Following ACU’s incredible involvement in, and commitment to WYD Sydney (2008), WYD Madrid (2011) and WYD Rio de Janeiro (2013), I am excited that we will be leading ACU students to WYD Krakow.
I see this pilgrimage as an opportunity, not only for those students and staff who will attend, but also for the broader University through the expression and enrichment of our Catholic identity and mission.
This is a pilgrimage to the heart of the Mediterranean to discover the riches of God through spectacular nature, inspirational historical sites and the stories of people who have had significant influence on the world – especially that of Saint Paul, the Apostle.
As you read along with this blog, I encourage you to go beyond the surface of Greece, Turkey and Poland, to experience a pilgrimage of service and faith, in truth and love.
