Discover reading

The monthly theme for July is discover.

From Kate:

I am in a book club that meets monthly. There are ten of us in the group, so we all pick one book a year (“Aren’t there 12 months in a year you ask?”  – “Yes, but we have a holiday in January, and celebrate the year in December”). It is through my bookclub that I have discovered great books and authors that I probably/possibly may not have ever read. These include:

  • Earth- Emile Zola
  • Caribou Island – David Vann
  • Four letters of love – Niall Williams
  • The red tent – Anita Diamant
  • The secret river – Kate Grenville
  • Lily Brett short stories

These are just a few of the books I don’t think I would have discovered had it not been for my bookgroup. How else do I discover what I read?  – through friends, colleagues, media, the newspaper and sometimes even through my virtual connections on Twitter.

What have you discovered in your reading or how do you discover great books to read?? Comment here, or on the ACU Library Facebook page.

You can also join the live twitter discussion 31 July starting at 8.00pm AEST
& use the tag #NYR12 to discuss your discover reading.
